Spring and Fall Dormant Oils

In late wintertime, fruit trees can be dormant but the chores in the backyard are not. As soon as the temperatures are scarcely above freezing, early spring and late winter is the best time to apply dormant oil, as it is the best preventative for mites and scales.

Dormant oil is an oil-based product, usually petroleum but can be vegetable based oil too. This is specifically designed to use on fruit trees. It has surfactants mixed in to allow it to be blended with water. When it has been sprayed on any branches of a bush or fruit tree, it penetrates in the hard outer shell surface of the insects and smothers it by not letting any oxygen to go through.

Spring and fall dormant oils are widely used on fruit trees to prevent bugs from swelling and suffocating insects and their nests in the branches. Though dormant oil on fruit trees does not entirely remove the problem with pests, but it’s the best alternative and way to take off most of the population, which leaves a simpler problem well ahead in the season.

There are many beneficial returns of using spring and fall dormant oils. Aside from an extensive variety of activity against most types of scales and mites which includes activity on eggs, these have an inclination to become less harmful to valuable predatory mites and insects,  relatively safe to humans, birds and other living things.

Therefore, it is important to make use of dormant oils to get rid of mite pests and insects trying to destroy your fruit trees. It’s not difficult to find a professional one who can do the job. In a few minutes, you can be able to find someone who can help you remove these pests. By not using this service, chances are these insects and mite pests will continue destroying your trees and shrub, as well as bring a harmful effect in your yard and house.
